The LARC Tour

Easily the highlight of this area was the LARC Paradise Tour. We saw and experienced so many amazing things on the water and the land as we went back into history to get a real appreciation of the area. From exploring Bustard Bay and the Lighthouse, sand boarding down sand dunes and having billy tea overlooking the creek, this day trip is a must for all ages.

Kayaking with Liquid Adventures

The town of 1770 is the only place on the east coast of Australia where you can watch an ocean sunset from a kayak. Besides their famed sunset kayak tour, you can join 1770 Liquid Adventures for a guided kayaking adventure paddling up the creek to Butterfly Beach where you'll stop for morning tea and a play with the butterflies.

Lady Musgrave Island

1770 is on the doorstep of the Southern Great Barrier Reef. It can be a rough 75 minute boat ride out there and back, but Lady Musgrave Island is worth the journey as you spend the day on your own piece of paradise. Enjoy a glass bottom boat tour, snorkeling in the protected Lagoon, and walks on beautiful beaches.

Sunset in the Town of 1770

Watching the sun go down in the Town of 1770 is the thing to do at the end of the day. Come early with your chair, a drink and some nibbles and enjoy a spectacular sunset over the bay in front of the campground. Or grab a beer at the Tavern across the road.

Sunset at Agnes Water

Agnes Water is just five minutes drive south of the Town of 1770 and where you’ll find the surf, a fantastic beach and the must visit Agnes Beach Cafe. Agnes Water also has a beautiful sunset right from the beach as it drops behind a small hill.

Paperbark Forest Walk

3kms south of Agnes Water opposite Springs Beach is the Paperbark Forest Walk. It’s a mystical 400m walk through the Paperbark forest down the wooden board-walk and hopping along the stepping pylons above the swamp.

Walk from 1770 to Round Hill Head

Take a 2km walk from the 1770 camp ground along the headland through the forest to the Round Hill Head. One section of the forest is filled with beautiful blue butterflies (just above Butterfly Beach) and the views along the way across Eurimbula National Park to Bustard Head way are pretty special.

Take a Surfing Lesson

Want to learn how to surf? Lessons here are some of the cheapest you’ll find in Australia. The waves on Agnes Water Beach are clean and good for learning. The two operators in town are Reef 2 Surf ($17 for 3 hours) and Lazy Lizard Surf School.
