The tropical paradise of the Whitsundays is one of the most popular golfing holiday destinations in Australia. Courses such as the Hamilton Island Golf Club on Dent Island and Laguna Whitsundays offer spectacular layouts with breathtaking tropical views. Hamilton Island is the most popular place to stay in the Whitsundays, while Airlie Beach and Cannonvale are also close by and offer excellent accommodation options.

The Hyatt Regency Coolum course is a world-class layout and the home of the Australian PGA. Located on the Sunshine Coast, holiday accommodation in Coolum Beach, Maroochydore, and Noosa Heads is close to the course.

The Pines, Hope Island and Robina Woods are some of the Gold Coast's best golf courses and feature interesting and challenging layouts. Surfers Paradise, Main Beach, Southport and Sanctuary Cove are ideal bases from which to enjoy a Gold Coast golfing holiday.

Bonville International on the North Coast of New South Wales is a highly regarded course and is easily accessible from Coffs Harbour. The Hunter Valley region boasts the Ellerston Golf Course, which is often listed in the top ten Australian courses, as well as Newcastle Golf Club and Magenta Shores. Stays in Newcastle and surrounding areas are great for golfers looking to tackle these courses.

Sydney's best are New South Wales, Royal Sydney, The Lakes and the Australian Golf Club. A golfing holiday in Sydney also ensures a wide selection of both private and public courses are on offer.

Victoria's best courses include Royal Melbourne, Kingston Heath and Moonah Lakes. Melbourne is known for its love of sport and golf is no different with the city home to some of the grandest golf clubs in Australia.

Outside Melbourne, The Dunes Golf Links is fantastic and situated amongst the beauty of the Mornington Peninsula at Rye. Barwon Heads Golf Club is another excellent regional course and is close to classic summer holiday destinations such as Queenscliff, Torquay and Barwon Heads.

South Australia's favoured layouts are all within range of Adelaide and include Royal Adelaide, Kooyonga and Glenelg.

The Cut is one of Western Australia's finest courses and is located near the holiday town of Mandurah. Joondalup in Perth's north makes a great location for a golfing holiday with both the Lake Karrinyup Country Club and Joondalup Resort close by.

Barnbougle Dunes often tops the list of best courses for golf writers and enthusiasts. Located on the north coast of Tasmania, the course is spectacular and challenging, unlike anything else in Australia. Located near the town of Bridport, Barnbougle Dunes is also accessible from Launceston.

Canberra is well known for its challenging and picturesque golf courses. The Royal Canberra Golf Club is by far the best and is set amidst beautiful scenery in the leafy suburb of Yarralumla.
