1. WACA

The WACA is the home of cricket in Western Australia, and is one of the nation's most beloved sports grounds. If there's not a match on when you're in town, get your fix by taking a tour of the ground and visiting the museum before purchasing some memorability to take home.

2. Aquarium of Western Australia

The Aquarium of Western Australia, also known as AQWA, showcases Western Australia's marine life and 12,000‚Äč-km coastline. Everything in AQWA's displays is alive, and there are more than 40 exhibits to explore. See more than 4,000 fish in the largest aquarium in Australia, and the 10th largest in the world.

3. Adventure World

Adventure World is a great destination for a family day trip. The park is full of rides perfect for thrill-seekers, including the Black Widow, Freefall and scary-sounding Tunnel of Terror. There are also family-friendly rides and attractions and those suited to younger guests, such as the bumper boats and Kai Pond.

4. Fremantle Prison

Soak up some history at Fremantle Prison, Australia's most intact convict establishment and the largest of its kind in Western Australia. It's been included on the World Heritage list and has been open to the public since 1992, after wrapping up 140 years as a place of incarceration.

5. John Forrest National Park

John Forrest National Park is the oldest national park in Western Australia. Walk the Railway Heritage Trail and roam through the Swan View Tunnel, which is Western Australia's only historical railway tunnel. Along with the beautiful flora in the park, there's also barbeques and picnic facilities for guests to enjoy.

6. Government House

Explore Australia's heritage at Government House, which has frequent open days to encourage visitors to enjoy the venue and its gardens. Bands, choirs and groups often perform in the ballroom and grounds during open days, providing an extra touch of entertainment

7. Floreat Beach

Spend a day at Floreat Beach, not far from Perth, which has an active Surf Life Saving Club and pleasant, relatively safe swimming conditions. The conditions are ideal for surfers, and the beach stretches along to Scarborough, which is another popular Perth spot.

8. Perth Zoo

Visit Perth Zoo to get up close and personal with a wide variety of animals, including cotton-top tamarins, dingos, cute quokkas, Sumatran tigers and cheetahs. The zoo is committed to conservation and offers plenty of learning opportunities when you visit.

9. The Breakwater

The Breakwater is an award-winning restaurant that features views out over the harbour and sea. It has won acclaim from the AHA National Awards for Excellence, Restaurant and Catering Institute and Gold Plate Awards, and features four separate areas for drinking, dining and socialising.

10. Rottnest Island

Head just off the coast of Fremantle to Rottnest Island, which boasts serene beaches and bays and plenty of curious quokkas. It has a warm, Mediterranean-style climate and indigenous plant life and animals to set it apart from the mainland.
