Hepburn Bathhouse

When one thinks of the things to do in Daylesford, relaxation and rejuvenation come to mind. The Daylesford and Macedon Ranges region has the largest concentration of natural mineral springs in Australia, and Hepburn Bathhouse is the most famous. The historic bathhouse has been soothing aching limbs since 1895 with its therapeutic spring water, sourced on site. Today, visitors can float between the salt therapy pool, spa couches, relaxation pool and steam room in the public bathhouse, or opt for a private pampering package – think facials, massages and water therapies – to rejuvenate body, mind and spirit.

Lake Daylesford and Jubilee Lake

It’s all about the water in this neck of the woods, and at Lake Daylesford you can enjoy megalitres of the stuff at your leisure. Stroll around the lake, keeping an eye out for birdlife and some of the region’s famous mineral springs, go canoeing or try your luck fishing. Be sure to try out the gourmet offerings at the two-hatted Lake House restaurant before you leave, and why not burn off those extra calories on a walk around nearby Jubilee Lake, which served as the town reservoir during the gold rush?

Convent Gallery and Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens

The award winning Convent Gallery occupies prime position on the top of Wombat Hill Botanical Gardens and boasts spectacular views across Daylesford and the surrounding countryside. The 19th-century mansion houses three levels of fine art, as well as a restaurant, bar, restored chapel, nuns’ museum and retail spaces. If the artwork doesn’t capture your imagination, the two-and-a-half hectares of stunning gardens certainly will.

Chocolate Mill

No Daylesford weekend of indulgence would be complete without a visit to the Chocolate Mill. The mill, housed in a unique building made of straw and earth, is where Willy Wonka fantasies come to life. Peek through the glass window to see the chocolatiers at work, lash out on a rich hot chocolate and cake in the cafe, and drool over the sumptuous selection of more than 100 treats available for sale, from hot chilli chocolate pyramids and handmade truffles, to nougat, rocky road and Turkish delight. All chocolates are made on site using Fair Trade-certified Belgian couverture chocolate - one of the sweeter things to do in Daylesford.

Lavandula Swiss Italian Farm

Reinvigorate your senses with the delightful fragrance of lavender amid fields emblazoned with green and violet hues. The Lavandula Swiss Italian Farm is an 1860s-era working lavender farm first established by Italian Swiss migrants seeking their fortunes on the goldfields. Today, you can sample European cuisine in the cafe, enjoy a lavender scone, stretch out by the creek, play petanque, or swill a glass of lavender champagne while the kids explore the gardens and olive grove and meet the local farm animals.
