Newman, Western Australia

The town of Newman is located in Western Australia's Pilbara region. It has been revealed as a mecca for singles after Australian Bureau of Statistics Census data was analysed to show there are more than 1,000 single male mining workers in their 20s and 30s living there.

Even if you're not travelling to Newman to find a single man, there is plenty of beauty to be discovered here. The Pilbara is truly stunning, with canyons and plunge pools at Karijini National Park alone worth the trip. There are also plenty of beaches on which to relax and swim, coral stretches perfect for snorkelling amongst and plenty of dense scrubland if you feel like losing yourself for a while. Other points of interest in this area include Millstream Chichester National Park and Rudall River National Park.

Orange, New South Wales

Like Newman, Orange also has an abundance of single young men working in industries such as health, trades and the mines.

The city also boasts a growing restaurant scene, with cool-climate vineyards also attracting holidaymakers and tourists. It's known for producing delicious fruit, beef and lamb along with its wines and has many farmers markets at which you can purchase these delicious items.

If you like to explore a new city by foot, take a self-guided walk along the Orange Heritage Trail, which covers more than 40 historically interesting places. Alternatively, take a hike up Mount Canobolas or head to the Orange Botanical Gardens for some relaxation and reflection.

Gold Coast

If you are looking for a holiday fling, the Gold Coast is the place to find it. Like a smaller, more beachy Vegas, the Gold Coast has sun, sand, surf and all the nightlife and entertainment you could want. Channel your inner child and go crazy on the rides at the area's assorted theme parks, or spend some time to yourself hiking in the hinterland that surrounds the city. Settle in at a cocktail bar in the evening to see if you meet Mr or Ms Right, or hit the dance floors around Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Mainbeach and Cavill Avenue.

Uluru

Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is the perfect destination for anyone wanting to add a bit of spirituality to their holiday. There's more than simply the big red rock to see here - you'll learn about the multi-million year-long history of the desert and its indigenous ownership, and there's a welcoming township nearby that will provide refreshments to cap off a day of culture. This is a World Heritage Area and beloved by all who visit it, so it's a must-do for any solo traveller in the country. Alice Springs is just a couple of hours away and is a great spot to base yourself.
